Punk Swing pioneer Wolfgang Parker celebrates 2006 with his latest CD, Octoboure gaining a solid reputation for its sonic daring via Myspace.com! The act, consisting of Alan Mauger on guitar, James Oberlin on drums and Parker on bass and vocals is grateful for the attention.

“It is apparent that we were ahead of our time for a while but people are definitely catching on now.” Parker says. “The vindication of being discovered by new people that really connect with your music is wonderful. It also adds another level of excitement when working on new songs.”

That excitement is being spurred by the viral nature of the internet and is leading to podcast sites and traditional radio adding the single Room Nineteen to their playlists. A total surprise to its author.

“I never thought that song was finished when I wrote it and I never thought much about it when we recorded it.” Parker remembers. “I liked it because it was loud and dirty. I wasn’t thinking ‘Oh, this is the ONE!’ Nevertheless, Room Nineteen has become the favorite hands-down among the digital legion. Parker muses, “For some reason, it doesn’t matter what age or sex. People like hearing me singing dirty lyrics.”

So what's next? Right now, Parker and his cohorts are in the studio recording his forthcoming release, Overblown, a foray in to his Hard Rock roots. Then work will begin on the double live album consisting of Swing material from Hep City Swing and Octoboure and will include a collection of rare studio recordings.

“In between all of this I hope to find some time to play and meet everyone.” Parker adds. “It almost feels like starting totally over.”
